When Greg Gilbertson walks into the classroom, he brings with him a wealth of real-life experience, from his stint in the U.S. Army and early career as a police officer, to training and mentoring law enforcement officials in the Middle East, and even owning a private investigation firm. With all that experience, it’s teaching about it that motivates him. Gilbertson is currently an Adjunct Professor at Brandman University’s Lacey campus, and an Associate Professor at Centralia College, teaching Criminal Justice.

Brandman University Graduate Honored as Volunteer of the Year

Crestina Marez has received the Maxine Strom Volunteer of the Year award for her 15 years of service at a Tacoma, Washington food bank, serving the homeless and families in need. The team at My Sister’s Pantry honored Marez at its annual dinner. “I was completely caught off-guard by this,” said Marez. “I expected this award to be given to somebody else.”

Meet Brandman Student Jennifer Marzocca

Jennifer Marzocca (MAOL) has a vision. After retiring from the U.S. Navy as an intelligence specialist, this single mother of three is now pursuing her education so that she can launch a program designed to help teenagers transition into adult life. “I have 19 and 17 year old sons, and a six year old daughter,” said Marzocca. “I want to create a program to help parents understand adolescence, how to inspire their children to grow without smothering them, and to provide tools for teenagers to give them confidence as they become adults.”

Brandman Students Join with Veteran Artist Program for San Diego Event

Graduate students from Brandman University are collaborating with the Veteran Artist Program (VAP) to host VETERANS+ART on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm at Horton Square located at 225 Broadway in downtown San Diego. The fundraising event will showcase local veteran artists and their artwork while sharing their compelling stories and educating visitors on VAP and the importance of art therapy.

Victorville Campus Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Brandman University hosted a special community celebration to mark the opening of the new Victorville campus (13911 Park Ave) on Tuesday morning. The ribbon cutting event featured tours of the campus with senior university administrators, remarks from Chancellor Gary Brahm and notable community leaders including Jim Kennedy, Victorville City Councilmember, Eric Camarena, Chairman of the Board, High Desert Hispanic Chamber of Commerc and David Greiner, Chairman of the Board, Victor Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Brandman's Heather Glanz Recognized as Santee School District Teacher of the Year

Heather Glanz has been an adjunct Liberal Arts faculty member at Brandman since 2010 and a K-12 teacher in the Santee School District for 17 years. Having earned her Master's in Curriculum and Instruction in 2001, she uses her knowledge and passion for teaching in the classroom every day. Her enthusiasm has been recognized as she was recently named the Santee School District's teacher of the year!
